Mango Strawberry Smoothie Bowl

Wednesday, April 4, 2018

I was thinking of adding in a fun food portion to the weekly blog posts. Recipe Wednesdays! Where I share small recipes I've been trying, with you.
This week I'm sharing a delicious smoothie bowl recipe that taste amazing. love a good smoothie bowl. I can add crunch or salty toppings and still enjoy a smoothie.
BASE:
  • Frozen Mangos
  • Frozen Strawberries
  • Plain Greek Yogurt | I like plain yogurt so that I can sweeten my smoothie with a natural sweetener like maple syrup or honey
  • Water | I use water because it's less fat than using a sugary juice or milk. It still taste amazing using water. TRUST ME!
SWEETENER:
  • Maple Syrup | This is a good alternative for a natural sweetener. It doesn't have those added sugars and It also has great health benefits from Antioxidants to helps protect skin health.
  • Cinnamon | Cinnamon has so many health benefits from anti-inflammatory properties to may help lower cancer risks. Look up more benefits of cinnamon. And it adds a great taste
Blend Together Your Base And Sweetener And Add Your Toppings!
TOPPINGS:
  • Fresh Raspberries
  • Sunflower Seeds | Sunflower seeds are one of my favorite snacks. I love the crunch and the salty flavor it adds.
  • Cinnamon
  • Bananas Would also taste amazing with this

Wheat Bread Toast

Sunflower Seed Butter

Raisins, Bananas and Sunflower Seeds

OMG! I never thought I would be one of those people that likes making their food look photographically good. I follow so many vegan and vegetarian instagrams, and they have made me so so INSPIRED to really enjoy and love the food I'm eating. And One of those things I noticed Is how beautiful and photographically pretty the pictures are. Lately every time I make food I try and make is as appealing as can be and just overall healthy.

When you take pictures of fruits and vegetables they look so good and refreshing and seeing those pictures is like a constant reminder of how good healthy food makes me feel.

Taking pictures of greasy burgers and fries and just junk food doesn't give me the same happy feeling. As I'm learning more about being a vegetarian. there are just so many things I'm learning along the way.

Food is energy, food is life and its meant to be enjoyed and prepared in the most peaceful way.  I highly suggest you read "How To Eat To Live" There are 2 volumes and they are really amazing books about food and how its meant to sustain our life but can also be a natural killer.

The Honorable Elijah Muhammad is a very beautiful and wise man who has a wealth of knowledge and his books are great tools to living a more healthy, longer life. As well as being your best self. And you can only be your best self if you have the knowledge about food and how it affects your body.

I'm slowly but surely getting myself there. It's very gradual, cutting certain foods out of your life, and adding healthier ones and not letting my stomach rule me but allowing my mind to rule my body and my stomach.

What I'm Snacking On?

Friday, June 2, 2017

Hey!
I'm such a snack lover! If a see a good snack I have to try it. As a child I enjoyed snack time and as an adult I still do. I've gathered a few of my favorite snacks to munch on, that are a little more healthier than pringles or lays. And these are AMAZINGLY Good!!

Sunflower Seeds
I have liked these ever since I was a child. Especially the lightly salted pack, I'm not of fan of to much salt. Sunflower seeds are perfect if you don't eat nuts or if you like that crunchy, salty taste. I get the ones without the shell because it just takes to long for me to open them haha.

Raisins
I enjoy a nice cup of raisins every now and then. They satisfy my sweet tooth and they are perfect mixed in trail mix. A much healthier option than a candy bar you see in the store.

Hummus Chips
My mother actually bought this and told me about them, ever since then I've been obsessed. They are a very light crisp chip that is packed with so much flavor. They really are delicious and can be addicting.

Pirate Booty
Don't be turned off by the name. If you like cheesy popcorn, you'll definitely love Pirate Booty. While I was teaching, many of my students would come to school with pirate booty for lunch and one day I bought my own bag and fell in love. P.S They do get a little messy.

Simple Strawberry Slush Drink

Sunday, May 21, 2017

I'm so excited to share with you this easy recipe. I know summer is approaching and there are so many drinks I cant wait to make. This strawberry slush is so simple and only requires 3 ingredients. The one thing I love about this recipe is you don't need ice, if you use frozen fruit. You can also make this with any fruit of your choice. I think a frozen peach slush drink would be delicious. The difference between this and a normal slush is. A slush is usually filled with ice but this is more like a blended drink mixed with a slush texture. I hope you enjoy!

INGREDIENTS:
Frozen Strawberries
Water
Sugar

Blend Blend Blend Until Smooth. If you want your slush thicker use less water.

You can add whatever sweetener you like. I decided to add sugar, but you can always do
-Honey
-Agave Nectar
-Sugar
-Maple Syrup

Pour in your preferred glass and Enjoy!!!

Pineapple Watermelon Sparkling Lemonade

Thursday, May 4, 2017

Hey There! I have to admit, this is probably my favorite drink I've tried so far. I love festive drinks especially around the spring/summer time. They're perfect for family BBQ's, Lunches or Brunch (which is my favorite meal) I love everything about brunch!! It's heating up so quick here is Arizona and drinks are always a stable for us, and lets face it who doesn't love watermelon and pineapple!!! I actually saw this drink as an alcoholic beverage but since I'm not a drinker I thought why not find another way to make this a summer time drink for everyone.

I purchased everything from Trader Joe's, aside from the ice and cups of course. They have a really good produce section and I'm always pleased with their fruit and their prices. I started out with watermelon spears and pineapple spears. You can always buy a full watermelon or pineapple and cut it yourself, I just went the more simple route. I also picked up some limes for garnishing and it give the drink a nice flavor.

I Sliced and prepped all my fruit before I even started pouring the drinks. After I sliced the fruit I set it aside. You could also put it in the the freezer and let the fruit get a little hard before adding it to your drinks. Its like having mini fruit ice cubes.

I used two of my favorite drinks from Trader Joe's The Sparkling Lemonade and The Pineapple Juice. This lemonade is very light and refreshing but still is so delicious when it is chilled and poured over ice. I've brought this lemonade to a few work parties and everyone absolutely loved it. I also am obsessed with their pineapple juice. It takes exactly like freshly squeezed pineapple juice, NO LIE! I'm not a fan of canned anything so knowing it comes in a bottle makes me that much more excited to buy it and drink it, like everyday literally!

Next I poured in my ice (you only need a few pieces) I recommend letting the juice sit for 5 minutes or less with the the fruit before adding the ice. That way all the flavors can blend together. Then I added 1 cup of the sparkling lemonade and 1/2 cup of the pineapple juice. Just make sure you give it a little stir because the pineapple juice is heavier than the lemonade so it will settle to the bottom. Then I add in my fruit and give it one last stir before adding my lime garnish .

I put a few slices of the lime in the drink and also on the edge of the glass. The lime gives it a slight tart flavor that works well with the sweetness of the pineapple. The your ready to drink!! I hope you enjoyed this post and I hope you try this drink. Let me know what you think In the comments below.

Easy Kosher Rice Krispie Treat Shapes!

Friday, December 26, 2014

I was so excited about making Rice Krispes, because I haven't made any since junior high school. So I thought this Holiday Season would be the perfect time to make them for my family.

Recipe Ingredients:

Two 10oz Bags of Marshmallows | 1/2 Stick Of Butter | 4-6 Cups Of Rice Krispies

I found these Marshmallow's at the Kosher Market. I don't eat pork, so finding an alternative Marshmallow that doesn't have gelatin in it, is Great!( If your looking for a kosher market just Google local kosher markets in your city)

| Cooking |

Put your stove on LOW and SLOWLY melt the butter and marshmallows together. You will know when its done because the consistency will be smooth and creamy.
** Be careful not to burn your marshmallows (take your time )

| Mixing |

After you pore in the marshmallows, start mixing everything together with a spatula.
** Make sure you butter your spatula and mixing bowl to avoid sticking

| Shape |
| I first transferred my mixture into a pyrex dish to cool, then I started shaping them. |

I decided to make balls, but you can also use cookie cutters and make different shapes.

| Enjoy!:) |
